Cement Slurry Volume & Sacks Calculator

Plan your cement job: annular slurry volume with excess, shoe track, sacks from slurry yield, mix water and displacement to bump the plug.

Formulas

Slurry volumeV = Annular cap × Length × (1 + excess) + Shoe track
SacksSacks = V (ft³) / Yield (ft³/sk)
DisplacementDisp = Casing ID² / 1029.4 × Depth to float collar

Worked example

GIVEN
  • 12-1/4" hole × 9-5/8" casing
  • 1,000 ft of fill
  • Yield 1.18 ft³/sk, no excess
WORKING
  1. Cap = (150.06 − 92.64) / 1029.4 = 0.0558 bbl/ft
  2. V = 55.8 bbl = 313 ft³
  3. Sacks = 313 / 1.18
≈ 265 sacks

FAQ

How much excess should I add?

Common practice is 10–30% in gauge hole and up to 100% in washed-out open hole — use caliper data where available.
